Book Reviews & Comments
Just Plain Worm
The book offers us an imaginative, sensitive and appealing look at ourselves through an unusual medium.
Our five grandchildren sat in front of a roaring fire and I read [Just Plain Worm] to them. We all loved it! The illustrations are breathtaking.
My daughter took the book to preschool. The teacher said the children sat mesmerized.
[Just Plain Worm] is charming and deeply spiritual and healing to that fear in all of us that we are not loved or special or even “okay.” It is also light-hearted and never preachy.
The story supports our thoughts on how to treat people who may be somewhat different . . . . my grandchildren commented on how someone who reads it will appreciate the uniqueness of each person.
[Just Plain Worm] will help set an accepting, positive atmosphere in my classroom and lead to a great discussion of accepting the differences in others!
I was visiting a fifth grade teacher and she had a copy of Just Plain Worm on her desk . . . . She told me it was one of her favorite books and she uses it every year.
[Just Plain Worm] is a wonderful story of friendship and shows the possibility for unity amongst different cultures. I would recommend it for grade 5 and up.
It’s brilliant!
The story has a Tolkien theme . . . I enjoyed it so much.
