About the Book

An epic tale not for the faint-hearted. Fleck, son of the leader of Ranidae, the great frog nation, is soon thrust into the “real world” of dangers. They are dark times and the enemies of Ranidae are many, like lurking shadows. But the most determined of these is a young frog who exercises a strange and powerful hold over an army of cannibals. And that young frog’s jealousy and hatred for the heir to Ranidae are such that he wants Fleck’s death above all things.

This is the story of Fleck, as he forms loyal and most unusual friendships; discovers allies among enemies and secret enemies among his own; battles his arch-adversary; and comes face-to-face with hideous creatures—some more horrible than anyone could have prepared him for or could even have imagined possible. And after their world is discovered by those who would destroy it, what future is there for the frogs of Ranidae? What will happen when their nation crumbles about them? Indeed, what can they do and where can they go when their entire land is no longer big enough for them to hide in?

The book offers us an imaginative, sensitive and appealing look at ourselves through an unusual medium.

About the Author
M.M.E. Grealish

Apart from early crayon murals on the family walls and a bit of dabbling here and there over the years, M.M.E. Grealish didn’t really apply herself to drawing until illustrating her children’s books.

Writing, on the other hand, has been a more integral part of her different careers, the latest being freelance editor in the textbook industry. So much of what Ms. Grealish does has children at its center, including a radio show she hosted some years back, Then and Again, aimed at bringing generations closer together through the music and movies the ‘30s, ‘40s, and ‘50s.

Because of her father’s work, M.M.E. Grealish spent many of her growing-up years overseas: Chile, France, and fifteen years in England. Ms. Grealish now resides in the Charleston area of South Carolina.
